Our co-founders, Ryan & Susan are married. Ryan is deaf and uses ASL. Susan is a nationally certified ASL interpreter. Both Ryan and Susan have seen and experienced the frustration that comes from communication barriers. Over the years, they talked about developing an app to help resolve some of the communication barriers they have seen and experienced. After working with friends and other deaf and hard of hearing individuals, they developed the ALICE app to enable basic communication for people with hearing loss everywhere.
They do not encourage ALICE to be a replacement for a live interpreter.
